My name is Ben H. and I am a senior at Piedmont Governor's School for Mathematics, Science & Technology. Part of the graduation requirement for a PGSMST student is to complete an independent research project. My Senior Research Project is related to computational linguistics as applied to class note-taking. Computer programs can be used to determine characteristics of language on a structural and semantic level. My experiment will look into the effectiveness of using these programs on the task of taking notes for class.
Participants will take notes electronically using this website. Participants will also fill out surveys rating the note-taking system.
Personal information about each participant will be coded so that each study participant remains anonymous to me and data will be kept confidential at all stages of the study. Each participant must be over 18 or have the consent of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and give their informed consent to participate.
I appreciate your time and consideration. Should you have questions or concerns regarding my project, please contact my instructor, Mrs. Monica Hatchett, via e-mail at monica.hatchett@comcast.net. Thank you.
